Germany’s largest bank supports rainforest logging
The Deutsche Bank is looking for investors for more rainforest logging!
Dear friends of the rainforest,
one of Germany’s largest banks, the Deutsche Bank, is teaming up with the world’s biggest palm oil trader FELDA, supporting the company’s flotation on the stock market due on Thursday 28 June 2012.
Since its foundation, FELDA has cut down hundreds of thousands of hectares of rainforest in order to create palm oil monocultures. Now the company wants to collect three billion dollars at the stock market in order to buy more land in Indonesia and Africa, to destroy the rainforest and to set up palm oil plantations.
In Malaysia there is a strong opposition against FELDA’s flotation and the land grabbing associated with it. Furthermore in Germany, the new top management of the Deutsche Bank has just announced a more sustainable approach of its financial institute. Now it should let its words become actions.
Please sign now and ask the Deutsche Bank to dissociate itself from FELDA and the destruction of rainforests.
Many thanks and best regard.
